Last day at Sakhir

The Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, BMW and Toyota are the three teams busy on the last day of this long test session at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain. Finally a sunny day, although the wind is still blowing over the archipelago.

Also today it was Felipe Massa who on the track for the Scuderia from Maranello, for an in-depth analysis of the several set up options for the F60 and experimenting with some aerodynamic solutions. Furthermore he continues with the engine and gearbox reliability work. In the beginning it seemed as if today was a rerun of yesterday’s tests, when the single-seater had an electrical problem and Felipe had to stop next to the track. The problem – a faulty cable -was immediately resolved by the Team and the tests could proceed.

At 2:30pm Felipe had driven the fastest lap of the day so far in a time of 1.32.865 (47 laps), followed by Heidfeld (1.33.002, 72 laps) and Glock (1.33.348, 24 laps).

The task of bringing the programme to a close fell to Felipe Massa. The Brazilian driver worked in great detail on various set-up options on the Ferrari F60, on experimenting with several aerodynamic solutions, as well as continuing with reliability work on both engine and gearbox. Apart from a few minor glitches, the most serious problem occurred at the start of the day when a faulty cable left Felipe stranded at the side of the track. However, the bulk of the planned workload was completed.
