The United States ambassador to Italy, David Thorne, accompanied by consul Carol Perez, came to visit Ferrari today.

Welcomed by Chairman Luca di Montezemolo ambassador Thorne admired the Ferrari production lines’ quality while visiting different departments, such as the Nuova Meccanica and the new production lines. Together they went to the Atelier where Thorne was introduced to the Personalisation Programme, creating unique examples of cars from Ferrari.

The ambassador also tested a 458 Italia, accompanied by Dario Benuzzi, who showed Thorne the Fiorano race track, before the ambassador took over.

At the track the group was welcomed by Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro Team Principal Stefano Domenicali and the Spanish driver Fernando Alonso. Thorne wished him all the best for the upcoming season.

Later on the ambassador visited the Scuderia Ferrari department, where the single-seaters undergo the last checks before they will be send to Bahrain, where this season’s first GP will be held on 1 March.
