Vitaly Petrov gears up for Rotterdam demo

The Renault F1 Roadshow heads to Rotterdam this weekend to take part in the Bavaria City Racing event on the streets of Dutch city. Vitaly Petrov will be on driving duty, stepping in to replace Ho-Pin Tung, who continues to recover from the back injury he sustained during the GP2 race at the Hungaroring last month. Reserve driver, Jan Charouz, will also be in Rotterdam and will share demonstration duties of the R29 with Vitaly on Sunday 22 August.

Although Ho-Pin’s rehabilitation is well on course, the team has decided not to take any unnecessary risks as he recovers from a small fracture of his lumbar vertebra. Although he’s disappointed to miss the chance to drive an F1 car in front of his home crowd, he will still attend the event to meet the Dutch fans and will take part in the autograph sessions along with Vitaly and Jan.

The Renault F1 Team has enjoyed a long and successful association with Rotterdam City Racing. Having attended every year since 2007, the team has always put on a spectacular show and last year more than 500,000 spectators lined the streets to witness the action. This year, fans can expect an equally impressive show with Vitaly and Jan promising to perform lots of donuts and burnouts, allowing the Dutch fans to appreciate the awesome sight and sound of an F1 car up close.
